On the rough and rugged North West side are the beaches of Golden Bay and Ghajn Tuffieha Bay. Situated amongst big rocky cliffs on the wilder side of the island each has excellent stretches of fine sand. Golden Bay is the more well known and due to this more popular. There is a car park with an attendant and also a nice restaurant with views looking across the whole bay. The sea is not always as calm here as Mellieha Bay and if the red flag is out, no swimming should take place due to dangerous undercurrents. But generally the sea is nice and the setting into the cliffs makes this a popular place as well.
